FROM THE LABEL: "Limited Release. This special Ale is, in reality, a recontructed exhumination of the very first ale that we ever brewed way, way back in 1993. Brewed with a big head, a muscular malty thorax, a silky texture and & all strung together with a hoppy sweet nerve sack..yum!"

FROM THE MOUTH: RED ALE: Listening to Adam Lambert singing Mad World...goes with the beer. I have decided that not only do I want to be a beer label artist, but I want to also write the beer description so I can say things like 'muscular malty thorax. and sweet nerve sack.' Not a beer for the hoppy shy. Probably top 3 hoppest so far,  up there with C- Note, February 24 post , C- note  had 100 IBU's and this has 54. I know what 'nerve sack' means now! YUMMY silky sweet sack of nervous thorax's strung with malty muscles with heads. Told you I could write...A+

FROM THE LABEL: "Live beer. India Pale Ale."

FROM THE MOUTH: INDIA PALE ALE: What does 'live beer' mean?  On the hoppy side with a dry sharp bitter ending. I just read about acidity while trying to figure out what I am tasting. Acidity: "an appetizing acidity, sometimes lemony, comes from hops. A fruity acidity derives from the yeast fermentation." I am tasting acidity- not fruity- and it is a dry bitter hop. Lots of beers out there so won't be missing this one. B

Brewed and Bottled by Hale's Ale LTD., Seattle Wa 98107

FROM THE LABEL: "Since 1983. Bottle conditioned. Brewed from the purest malt and hops."

FROM THE MOUTH: WINTER ALE: Wee heavy is a good introduction ..wee bit malty AND did we not learn something this week about "bottle conditioned' beer.....THAT'S RIGHT.....has that sherry or madiera flavor and aroma. So when you are buying a beer and looking at their extremely artsy labels ( I got a pretty good close up on this one- a mini painting) and notice 'bottle conditioned' you will think....stevenscreekswigs said you might find the beer to have just a wee bit of sherry kicking it. FROM THE LABEL: "The registered trademark "Trappist" certifies that this ale was brewed within the walls of an existing monastery under the control of the Trappist community. A major part of the sales revenue is used by the monks to support charitable works. The exceptional yeast isolated by Father Theodore combined with the purity of the highly protected water of the abbeys wells, gives Chimay its unique richness. Since 1862, Chimay's secondary fermented ales have neither been pasteurized nor filtered and only natural ingredients are used. FROM THE LABEL: "Imported by Global Importes."

FROM THE MOUTH: STOUT: Ok, I am going to give this a go. High caramel malt flavor, but more than that I am tasting Sherry! Sherry: GREAT BEER GUIDE says this: "Dry, fino sherry flavors are typical in Belgian lambic beers. Sweet sherry can arise in strong, bottle- conditioned beers that have been aged. See also Madeira: Caused by oxidation. In very strong bottled- conditioned beers that have been aged many years, this will be in a pleasant balance. In another type of beer, it is likely to be unpleasant." This is one of the pleasant beers and it is luscious.  I will ask Matt to bring me more!!!They really cut corners on their label, but I love the addition of Ethiopian Amharic symbols- cool. A+

FROM THE LABEL:"Eine Kongin unter den Bieren. Premium German beer since 1753. Product of Germany."

FROM THE MOUTH: PILSNER: I could probably tell you this was a foreign Pilsner just by the taste. There is something unique about imported beers. There is a slight malt presence with just the right hop dominance. But it isn't overly bitter, instead there is a good clean/dry finish leaving just a slight bitterness on the throat and tongue. A great all around refreshing beer. Would go better with food, me thinks. Note to self...don't drink all the beer before you take the picture! This had a nice foam on top- guess I was thirsty! A+

FROM THE LABEL: "Witness the subtle aromatic seduction of the debut Northwest Pale Ale. Another slap at brewing convention, another kick in the pants. Enjoy. Not up for the full-bodied hop assault? Red Chair NWPA is a smooth ride. Seven select European and domestic malts take a suprisingly plush satin turn on the way to the citrusy hop kick. Edges out, layers in."

FROM THE MOUTH: NORTHWEST PALE ALE: Hmm, plush satin turn? This is some good writing. Indeed this is a nice blended beer- I should say excellent blended beer. I am finding Deschutes brewing has some winners. SAMUEL SMITH'S WINTER WELCOME ALE
1 PT 2.7 FL.OZ., 6% ALC./VOL.
Brewed at Yorkshire's Oldest Brewery, Tadcaster England

FROM THE LABEL: "This seasonal beer is a limited edition brewed for the short days and long nights of winter. The full body resulting from fermentation in 'stone Yorkshire squares' and the luxurious malt character, which will appeal to a broad range of drinkers, is balanced against whole dried Fuggle and Golding hops with nuances and complexities that should be contemplated before an open fire. Samuel Smith's brews at a small traditional British Brewery, the oldest Brewery in Yorkshire. Product of England."

FROM THE MOUTH: WINTER ALE: Outstanding label! This is the second Samuel Smith beers I have tried and this is another winner. A beautiful smooth winter ale, nicely balanced all the way from start to finish. I love the image they create ...sipping this beer with some friends, relaxed and content in front of the fire.
