HAPPY NEW YEAR

FROM THE LABEL: The label is a painting I did for a Quick Studies art class. It is a copy of a not so famous painting  by Rubens. It is hanging in the Orsay in Paris and I snuck a quick picture ( no cameras allowed) when I was there last summer. My mother died this year and when I saw this in my studio I thought of her because the painting reminded me of one of her favorite songs..."I can see clearly now...the rain is gone." So this is for my Mom, I love you.

FROM THE MOUTH: ALE: I brewed this beer back in August. First time brewer ..making an ale, I think. I figured since I was doing a beer blog I should know the process so I bought me-self a brew kit. I had a blast, a blast. If I had sampled this beer at the beginning of my blog I probably would have tossed it. It has a strong biscuit presence (yeast), mild citrus malt but not enough hop for my taste. Not bad for a first run. Tastes like a Belgian ale. I am pretty pleased with the color and the carbonation is wicked! FROM THE STORE: Home brewed baby!

New Years hike to celebrate and give thanks for our health, the health of my family and for their love. I love you all, thanks for joining me this year. Was it not fun!

"No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?"
-Elbert Hubbard

And thank you Dad for taking us to the Jersey Shore every summer, for the songs you sang and for the unending love you continue to shower upon us every day. I love you.

NEW YEARS EVE
FAT TIRE AMBER ALE
12 FL. OZ. (355ML), ALC. 5.2% BY VOL
BBB New Belgium - Fort Collins, CO USA

FROM THE LABEL: "New Belgium Brewing Company is Wind Powered and Employee Owned. New Belgium's employee owners would love to have you stop by the brewery! 500 Linden, Fort Collins, CO 80524 (888) NBB- 4044. Savor the flavor."

FROM THE MOUTH: AMERICAN AMBER/ RED ALE: I pulled this out of the fridge on the way over to our neighbors New Years Eve bon-fire. Should have pulled out a Porter or Stout- it was freezing until we got the fire roaring and even then my toes could have used some alcohol in them. At 22 degrees my nose couldn't smell anything and I needed to get this beer in me before hypothermia set in. Taste was refreshing and mild. Malty/ mild dark fruit front, biscuit and a touch of hops. Lots of people like this beer and I can see why..it is easy to drink and has enough flavor to keep you interested and at an ABV of 5.2% you can string these together. I love the label, beautifully designed. A-

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
