300 BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL
March 6, 2012 (Tuesday)
VIENNA LAGER
12 fl. oz., 5.7% alc./vol.
Brewed and Bottled by JosephsBrau Brewing Co., San Jose, CA
++

FROM THE LABEL: "Sandwiched between the two major European brewing capitals, Prague adn Munich, Vienna has historically been an important brewing city in its own right. JosephsBrau Vienna-style lager, a moderately hopped amber lager brewed using pilsner, dark and carmalized dark malts, pays tribute to Vienna's proud brewing heritage. It exhibits a smooth malty flavor. 20 IBU.

FROM THE MOUTH: Certainly a full bodied beer for a lager and really holds up well in the mouth. This is one of the best blended (hops to malt) beers I have had so far. It is quite malty and a has a bite of burnt caramel along with a bite of hops- very yummy. A+ Vienna- Style lager

I am going to start adding the type of beer: Lager, Old Ale, Pale Ale, Pilsner, Porter, Red Ale, Scotch Ale, Stout, Vienna-style lager, Weizen.

FROM THE GRILL: Quiche with garbonzo salad

FROM THE STORE: Trader Joe's

MAUDITE

302 BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL
March 4, 2012 (Sunday)
MAUDITE UNIBROUE
12 fl. oz., 8% alc./vol.
Brewed and Bottled by Unibroue, Chamley , Canada
++
FROM THE LABEL: "La Maudite ( Damned) refermented on yeast base in the bottle, goes down uncommonly smooth. One taste of this excellent malt beverage will instill in you the highest respect."

FROM THE MOUTH: It smells nice but tastes awful. I can barely take a swig- way too much yeast. The spice is the only redeeming quality ..but - yuck. D Label is cool.

FROM THE GRILL: Anything to get rid of the taste in my mouth.

FROM THE STORE: Trader Joe's. I bought a four pack ( all different beers) on some sort of one time special. I can see why.

DOMINION OAK BARREL STOUT

303 BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL
March 3, 2012 (Saturday)
Happy 75 Birthday to Aunt Sally Cullen
DOMINION OAK BARREL STOUT
12 fl.oz
Brewed and Bottled by Old Dominion Brew Co., Dover, DE
+++

FROM THE LABEL: "Dominion Oak Barrel Stout raises the bar for American stout's. Our method of dry-hopping with vanilla beans and oak chips broadens our stout's flavor spectrum even further."

FROM "THE FROSTED MUG": "Old Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is crafted from smoked and peated malts. The brewery's method of dry hopping with vanilla beans and oak chips pushed the depth of its flavor even further up the flavor spectrum. Try some and see what the "Deleware News Journal" called the stout "Best Beer in Deleware" in March of 2011."

FROM THE MOUTH: I can't identify what it is about this beer that makes me think of raking leaves and jumping in, catching fire flys and playing statue. Damn, it reminds me of growing up on Woodthrush Lane, maybe it is the oak chips or the peat (Is it Ireland I taste)? This is a very weird feeling. Love the stout A

FROM THE GRILL: This hearty stout needs a hearty stew

FROM THE STORE: Another beer from www.amazingclubs.com - thank you Whitney!

SLANE'S IRISH STYLE RED ALE

304 BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL
March 2, 2012 (Friday)
SLANE'S IRISH STYLE RED ALE
1 pt, 6 fl. oz. , 6.6& Alc. by Vol.
Diamond Knot Brewing Co., Mukilteo , WA
++++

FROM 'THE MICROBREW REVIEW': "Slane's Irish Style Red Ale is the latest offering from Diamond Knot and will only be brewed for a few months. It blends the best of Irish tradition with the boldness of West Coast style. "The challenge was designing a beer that balances the complex malty sweetness, while still letting the Pacific Northwest hops shine through. We think we've come up with something that our customers really look forward to year after year." said Brewmaster Pat Ringe. Slane's is deep red in color with a sweet caramelly aroma, complex malt flavors and a very subtle smokiness at the end with a crisp, hoppy finish. Pair with chicken, seafood, burgers, tangy cheese, and poached pears. ABV: 6.7%."

FROM THE MOUTH: This is REALLY delicious and I am so proud of myself for identifying the 'smokiness' before I read about it! There is a cedary hop taste in the end- that must be that crisp hoppy finish they talk about. A beautiful blend of sweet malt to bitter hop, very smooth. A+ Go Irish!

FROM THE GRILL: See above suggestions

FROM THE STORE: This was a birthday gift from my Father, John Kennedy. He enrolled me in a monthly beer club www.microbeerclub.com so we will be enjoying some fabulous Pacific beers coming up! Thanks Dad, I love you.

FROM "THE FROSTED MUG": "Cape Ann Brewing Company's special, seasonal Fisherman's Navigator is a German-style Doppelbock of impeccable quality, flavor and body. The beer has a toasty, biscuit- like malt backbone that is unlike any beer you've tried, while managing to still stay within the tradition of the centuries- old style."

FROM THE MOUTH: Very nice 'loud' beer. It fills your mouth then yells flavor all over it! I was pleasantly surprised with the heavy malt that was so well blended with the hops- it may be loud but it is smooth. This was a birthday gift from my daughter Whitney- woohoo girl- a nice combination of beers arrived from www.amazingclubs.com and we will be tasting them all- thanks sweetie! A+ ( the plus is because Max likes it!)
