FROM THE LABEL: "The Belhaven Brewery is one of Scotlands oldest regional breweries dating back to 1719. Belhaven Scottish Ale is a fully rounded ale, a complex mix of malt and hops, producing Belhaven's easily recognised malted and nutty flavor."
FROM THE MOUTH : SCOTTISH ALE: Beautiful color and a nice malty toffee smell but....aside from the toffee malt the overall taste is metallic AND you are certain that you have smoked a cig or at least licked the ash tray. What an interesting beer- aftertaste is dry, watered down, metallic ash tray. I could see where this beer would be attractive to some folks- those who drink beer and like to lick ash trays. I drank it all just because it made me laugh--they have been brewing this since 1719 and have not figured out someone is adding cig butts to the wort. B-
