FROM THE LABEL: " Helles Belles is a traditional German-style lager brewed with premium pilsner malt and bittered with Hallertau hops. Originally brewed for the Oregon Brewers Festival, Helles ( meaning light) is straw yellow in color, bright and crisp. So for those about to rock, Ninkasi proudly presents Helles Belles. German Style Helles Lager.
The ancient Sumerians worshipped the beer they made, and praised the Goddess
Nikasi for the miracle of fermentation. Beer is a staple of civilization.
WORSHIP THE GODDESS."
FROM THE MOUTH: MUNICH HELLES LAGER: Not certain what makes a Helles Lager different than any other lager? I googled it but it was boring so I moved on. I have been apprehensive to pull a lager from the fridge after having so many really tasty beers (IPA, Porters) lately but this one did not disapppoint. It has a nice full carbonation with a smooth bisquit malt, light hops ( a nice German bittering hop that contributes to the smooth bitterness and nice aroma), all combined with a hint of citrus. Finishes a bit a dry and ..tangy but overall a very nice beer. I will definitely pull this from the fridge again. For those who mostly drink and like lagers..give this a whirl. A
